SMS Meer Introduces New Measurement Control System at Timken

Timken in Ohio, USA, has successfully commissioned MEERgauge laser-based precision measuring systems sourced from Germany by SMS Meer. The system displays a complete picture of the product slice based on a modern inspection method.

With new measurement technology, Timken is able to reduce tolerance deviations in a fully automated rolling process on SBQ rebar diameters from 25 millimeters to 127 millimeters.

Up to 500 measurement points over the entire cross section are recorded simultaneously in a coordinate system where the actual cross sections of the shape are displayed. Cross-sectional fluctuations, temperature or other parameters in the feed are automatically compensated for. "
