May 19, London. The world's largest producer of nickel and palladium, MMC Norilsk Nickel, plans to invest about US $ 9.5 billion in its own development over the next three years. This was announced by the first deputy general director of Norilsk Nickel Pavel Fedorov during a conference call on Monday.
“By updating its strategic plans, the company has determined a new program for the reconfiguration of its metallurgical facilities. This program envisages the modernization of all processing facilities and the consolidation of smelting and refining capacities at more modern, expanded sites, ”the statement says.
“With the best mineral resources in the world and a strong management team at our disposal, we believe that we will be able to open a new chapter in the history of Norilsk,” Vladimir Potanin, CEO of MMC Norilsk Nickel, said at Investor Day in London.
Norilsk Nickel also plans to replace nickel supplies in the Chinese market amid a growing shortage of raw materials from Indonesia, whose government has banned the export of unprocessed ore from the country.
