Severstal launches supplies for automotive projects

Severstal has announced that the company has launched trial deliveries of rolled products for the production of several Nissan car models in Russia. Severstal also signed a contract for the supply of rolled steel to the Renault-Nissan Alliance from March to August 2014, demonstrating its position as a major supplier to the car manufacturer.

Rolled steel from the Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works will provide 82 percent of the steel rolling needs of the Renault-Nissan Alliance in Russia over the specified period. Automotive bodies made of rolled metal from the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant are used in production at Renault's main facilities in Moscow, and are supplied as part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance industrial project.

Dmitry Goroshkov, Marketing Director of Severstal's Russian Metallurgical Division, said that "This contract for the supply of steel to the Renault-Nissan Alliance demonstrates our position as a leading supplier to international automotive companies operating in Russia."

Severstal's international automotive customers operating in Russia are Ford, Hyundai-Kia, VW, PSA and others. In 2013, Severstal's share in the supply of rolled steel to automotive companies in Russia is about 23 percent of total consumption.
In addition, Ford Sollers also approved serial deliveries of rolled metal products to OJSC

Severstal. Severstal's steel products are used in the production of more than 30 parts for Ford vehicles. The supplied rolled metal will be used for the manufacture of blanks by stamping at the Gestamp-Severstal-Vsevolozhsk plant, which is a joint venture between Gestamp and Severstal.
