The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has issued its rulings for the coming five-year duties on carbon and certain alloy steel wire rods from Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Moldova, Trinidad and Tobago, and Ukraine.
Regarding the existing countervailing duty on wire rod from Brazil and the current anti-dumping duty on this product from Indonesia, Mexico, Moldova, Trinidad and Tobago, the Commission made an affirmative determination, finding that the removal of the duty would likely result in continued or recurrent material damage for manufacturers. As a result of the positive decisions of the Commission, the existing import duties on this product from Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Moldova, Trinidad and Tobago will remain at the same level.
With regard to the existing anti-dumping duty on wire rod from Ukraine, the Commission adopted a negative determination, finding that the abolition of duties would not lead to the continuation or renewal of pecuniary damage in a reasonably foreseeable time. As a result of the negative determination of the Commission, the existing procedure for the import of this product from Ukraine will be canceled.
