JFE Steel Corporation announced that it has partnered with Metal One Corporation to receive an order for 280 tonnes of OCTG pipe from Brazil's national oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA. OCTG pipes will be used at the company's offshore oil project in Brazil. This is the first order received for the newly developed JFE-UHP-17Cr-110 pipe class, which boasts improved corrosion resistance.
These pipes, with a thickness of 13.84 mm and an outside diameter of 9.625 inches (244.4 mm), were designed and manufactured by JFE Steel. The Petrobras project aims to extract oil from the second layer "to salt", which is located 3,000 to 4,000 meters below the bottom of Brazilian ocean waters. Previously, stainless 3 OCTG pipes were mainly used for such conditions.
And now they will use JFE-UHP-17Cr-110 pipes, which are superior in corrosion resistance over JFE-UHP-15CR, which are also famous for their corrosion resistance and heat resistance. In addition, new pipes cost less than duplex stainless pipe products. To connect the housings, JFE offered its own premium connection, with a unique seal geometry.
This is the first commercial order for JFE Steel for JFE-UHP-17Cr-110. For many years JFE Steel has been supplying high quality OCTG pipes for various oil and gas projects around the world. This order is due to the high quality and reliability of its products, as well as the use of advanced technologies in the production of pipes.
