TMK IPSCO, the American subsidiary of Russian TMK and one of the leading steel pipe producers, has announced that it will build a plant in northern Kentucky. The new plant will primarily serve the country's oil and natural gas distribution sector.
The company reportedly plans to invest about $ 19.8 million in the new plant, which will be the company's first coated steel facility. Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin this summer.
The new plant will be built near Wilder's existing Kentucky plant, which produces steel pipes used for oil and gas transmission. The Kentucky Financial and Economic Development Authority has already given initial approval for tax credits of $ 650,000 over 10 years.
Under the terms of the tax credit agreement, TMK IPSCO is required to maintain at least 95 percent of its workforce at its Wilder plant. The facility currently employs 379 people. The Wilder plant has an annual production of 570 thousand tons of steel pipes. The company currently operates 12 properties in North America.
TMK IPSCO is one of the largest North American manufacturers of welded and seamless pipes and premium connections serving the oil, gas and other industries. The company produces an expanded range of products to meet the region's energy needs for tubular products.
