EVRAZ announces the start of mass production at its EVRAZ Caspian Steel (Caspian Steel) rolling mill in Kostanay, Kazakhstan. The first batch of rebar from the new mill has already been delivered to customers.
The plant has a design capacity of 450 thousand tons of fittings per year. The main product of the production is rebar of various lengths, with a diameter from 10 mm to 40 mm. At present, the plant produces hardened reinforcement А500С with diameters of 14 mm, 18 mm and 25 mm and reinforcement A3 from steel grade 25G2S with diameters of 18 mm and 25 mm.
EVRAZ Caspian Steel will also produce the unique A500 (SP) heat-strengthened rebar, which will save up to 25 percent on the amount of metal used for construction work. This valve has been awarded all the required certificates in Kazakhstan.
The factory is equipped with advanced quality control systems, a certified laboratory and a packaging line that meets the requirements of all of its customers.
Aleksey Ivanov, Vice President, Head of the Metallurgical Division, explained that Kazakhstan and Central Asia are fast-growing markets, and mass production at the plant in Kostanay will provide the company's clients in Kazakhstan with locally produced valves, which supports the government's policy of import substitution.
EVRAZ Caspian Steel is a joint venture between EVRAZ (65 percent) and the Kazakh Caspian Group (35 percent). In 2014, the plant was recognized as the project of the year at the national mining and metallurgical competition of Kazakhstan "Golden Hephaestus".
