Trubodetal Zavod, an open joint stock company based in Chelyabinsk, which is part of the United Metallurgical Company (ZAO OMK), has introduced new equipment for cold bending.
The machine will produce bent bends of 812.8 mm in diameter and wall thickness up to 40.1 mm, made of K65 strength class steel. The parts will be used for the installation of South Stream on the section that runs from the Russkaya compressor station to the Black Sea.
The new equipment weighing 36 tons can work in any weather conditions, and is installed on the territory of the plant on an open-air site. The machine can bend pipes with diameters ranging from 530 mm - 1020 mm with wall thickness up to 50 mm.
Andrey Korotkov, Managing Director of the Trubodetal plant, said that thanks to the new pipe bending equipment, the company will be able to raise the level of production and product quality, and reduce the time required to work on a large order for the South Stream gas pipeline.
In addition, this equipment opens up new horizons for the plant, allowing it to fulfill orders for its other customers. The company supplies its products for the construction of communications in the oil and gas sector, as well as trunk networks. The product range of the plant includes pipeline fittings made of low-alloy steel, including bends, tees, transitions, plugs, pipeline assemblies, pipeline supports, etc.
