According to the data of the Association "Spetsstal" in the first quarter of 2014, the volume of imports of seamless stainless pipes decreased by 47.5 percent and amounted to only 2,128 tons, compared to the same period last year.
The main imported goods were cold rolled seamless pipes. Such metal products will be useful to citizens and enterprises producing drilling their own water well for autonomous water supply to a home or office. Their share in the first quarter amounted to more than 59.3 percent of the total supply, and in the same quarter of 2013 - 45.9 percent. Among the leading suppliers of this type of stainless steel products were: Ukraine, which accounts for up to 48.7 percent of the total supply, which is slightly more than 32.8 percent last year, China - 25.4 percent, South Korea - 8, 4 percent, India 7.2 percent Malaysia 3.6 percent.
Recall that the import of this type of stainless steel pipes is imposed with a customs duty of 12.5 percent of the customs value and a quota limitation. In addition to this, anti-dumping duties apply to imports from some countries at a rate of 19.15 percent.
Despite these restrictions, imports of pipes from China rose 76.1 percent in the first quarter. The reason for this increase is due to the lower price. Imports from Ukraine increased by 0.6 percent, from South Korea - more than 15 times, from India - 91 times. Pipes produced in South Korea and India are exempt from the quota. Imports from Malaysia fell 95.1 percent after quotas and duties were changed.
