India's leading steelmaker Essar Steel, with presences in Canada, the US, India and Indonesia, announces plans to increase heavy plate production at the country's largest flat steel mill, Hazira. The company announced that overall plate production at the plant will be raised more than 30 percent in the second quarter of this fiscal year to 85,000 tonnes, up from 65,000 tonnes in the first quarter.
The company is the most versatile flat steel manufacturer with integrated facilities. Essar Steel's product range includes pipes and additional wide plates, as well as hot-rolled, cold-rolled, galvanized steel, as well as color-coated steel and pipes. The company has an integrated business distribution system with service centers for steel processing and steel fabrication.
Essar has the largest retail distribution network. Its products are widely used in highly demanding consumer sectors such as automotive, household appliances, construction, mechanical engineering and shipbuilding.
The company also announced that it will continue to focus on value-added wafers. The company recently received a large order for the supply of pipes from the government-promoted Saurashtra Narmada irrigation company.
Essar Steel is one of the world's largest steel producers, with an annual capacity of 14 million tonnes, a fully integrated carbon steel production facility.
