According to the latest data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, imports of CRC cold rolled coils of the country fell sharply during the month of April this year, but increased over the past period of 2014. Turkey imported 57,648 tons of CRC in April, down 30.94 percent from imports a year earlier. Imports also fell nearly 15 percent from the previous month.
Russia was the main CRC exporter to Turkey in April this year. Imports of cold-rolled coils from Russia totaled 35,819 tons, accounting for over 60 percent of Turkey's total CRC imports during the month. Other major exporting countries during the month were Spain (4183 tons), Ukraine (3821 tons) and Belgium (3519 tons).
In monetary terms, CRC imports amounted to $ 40.41 million during the month. This is 30.42 percent lower compared to imports in April last year. Imports during April 2013 had a total revenue of $ 58.08 million. In addition, import revenues in April 2014 were down 12.32 percent compared to total revenues of $ 46.10 million generated in March this year.
CRC imports by the country for the first four months of this year totaled 252,291 tons, up 13 percent from the previous year. Import values climbed 12 percent from a year earlier to $ 174.210 million during January-April 2014. The main CRC suppliers to Turkey during the four month period were Russia (105,380 tons), Ukraine (46,547 tons), Spain (26,278 tons) and Belgium (22,036 tons).
