According to the latest data released by the Chinese customs, exports of seamless steel pipes in the country increased significantly during the month of May 2014.
China's seamless steel pipe exports totaled 511,690 tonnes in May this year, up 13 percent from exports in the previous month. Seamless steel pipes were exported during April this year for a total of 452,820 tons. When compared on an annualized basis, exports increased 9 percent. China's exports of seamless steel pipes in the same month last year were 469,440 tons.
During the first five months of this year, China exported 2,180,000 tons of seamless steel pipes, down 2 percent from exports in the corresponding five months during 2013.
During the first five months of 2014, the country's seamless steel pipe production was 12,720,000 tons. Domestic consumption accounted for almost 83 percent of total production. The balance of seamless steel pipes exported within five months was 17 percent.
