According to statistics released by the American Institute of Iron and Steel (AISI), crude steel production in the country fell 0.5 percent over the week. The capacity utilization rate of American steel producers in July is 77.0 percent.
The total production of crude steel for the past period in July reached 1,853,000 tons. AISI data indicates that crude steel production in the United States declined marginally, down 0.5 percent during the week from the previous week, when operating results reached 1,863,000 tonnes. That being said, the weekly output had an increase over production during the same week in the previous year.
The capacity utilization rate is slightly lower compared to 77.5 percent in June. However, capacity utilization remained at the same level of 77.0 percent over the same period in the previous year.
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) is an association of North American steel producers. AISI member companies represent more than three quarters of the steelmaking capacity in both the United States and North America. AISI determines its weekly crude steel production data from 50 percent of domestic producers, and estimates monthly data on steel and iron production and raw materials production for the steel sector.
