Governments around the world are encouraging the recycling of e-waste. For example, the Indian Ministry of the Environment announced the launch of a new e-waste support system by providing financial assistance to e-waste firms.
According to research carried out by various agencies, e-waste has been growing at an alarming rate around the world in recent years. Strict rules for the disposal of electronic waste in India were developed back in 2011, but in fact, only recently, appropriate government control has been carried out in accordance with established standards.
Inappropriate handling of e-waste can result in the release of toxic materials that can harm human health and the environment.
From now on, violation of the rules for handling e-waste will be seriously monitored by the state. Speaking in parliament, India's Environment Minister said the financial assistance will be used to raise public awareness of the dangers of improper disposal of e-waste and to build capacity for e-waste recycling businesses.
The minister said that the government has developed a program and management structures for organizations for the processing of electronic waste and related disposal of hazardous substances. The program will promote the use of E-waste by preventing harmful elements that exist in electronics, such as lead and mercury, from entering the environment.
Recycling e-waste has become an important challenge in the fight against environmental pollution
