Canadian billet manufacturer to build plant in Ohio

Канадский производитель алюминиевых заготовок построит завод в Огайо
Matalco Inc, which has an aluminum billet mill in Ontario, is set to build its new $ 92 million smelter in Lordstown, Ohio. The construction of the new plant is scheduled to begin on September 17, 2014. It is reported that tempered glass of American production will be used for finishing the facades of the amenity buildings. A public announcement on the construction plans is expected to be made next week, according to company sources.

Matalco considered other locations, including Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania, for the construction of the plant, until it was finally confirmed in Lordstown. The board in Lordstown has approved 75 percent tax credits for 10 years. The plant expects to produce 6,000 extrusions of aluminum billets from aluminum scrap and create new jobs in the region.

The smelting plant will produce about 300 million pounds of aluminum billet per year. The company did not comment on the proposed start of production at the plant. The scrap supply to the new plant will be handled by Triple M Metal's Brampton. By the way, Matalco and Triple M are subsidiaries of the Giampaolo Group.

Matalco Inc is Canada's largest processor of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The company produces 6,000 extrusions of aluminum billets mainly from scrap aluminum. With a capacity of 350 million pounds of recycled billet, Matalco is one of the largest independent billet producers in North America. The company also currently owns two properties in Brampton and Canton, Ohio.
