According to the latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, steel production from the 65 member countries was 137.122 million tonnes in June this year, up 3.1 percent from production in the same month the previous year.
The total production of crude steel in the EU-28 countries during June this year was 14,200 million tons, which is 4.92 percent lower than the production in May 2014, which reached 14.935 million tons. Other European countries produced 3.272 million tonnes of steel, up 2.31 percent from 3.198 million tonnes in the previous month.
Steel production of the CIS countries in June decreased by 3.66 percent to 9.111 million tons compared to 9.457 million tons last month. North America's total crude steel production fell 3.16 percent to 9.848 million tonnes in June this year, up from 10.169 million tonnes in May.
Total crude steel production in South America in June this year fell 5.57 percent to 3.594 million tonnes. African countries produced 1.310 million tonnes of steel, down 3.75 percent from 1.361 million tonnes achieved in May this year. Total crude steel production in the Middle East in June this year was 2.307 million tonnes, down 7.31 percent from the previous month with an output of 2.489 million tonnes.
Asian steel production declined 2.1 percent to 93.026 million tons from 95.021 million tons in May. At the same time, less total Oceania steel production rose 4.12 percent to 0.455 million tons in June this year, compared with 0.437 million tons in May.
