The latest data released by the Chinese customs authorities show that the country's stainless steel exports declined during the month of June this year. According to this data, in June 2014, China's export of stainless steel in sheets and coils was 268,143 tons. Exports during June were down 18.2 percent from the previous month.
Taiwan was the largest importer of Chinese stainless steel coils and sheets in June this year. Exports to Taiwan totaled 90,733 tons, accounting for nearly one third of China's total exports for the month. Meanwhile, exports to Taiwan fell 4.1 percent from exports in the same month a year earlier.
The second largest export destination for Chinese stainless steel products was South Korea. Chinese exports to South Korea totaled 51,575 tonnes, nearly 10 percent lower YoY. The country imported just over 19 percent of China's total exports of these products during the month of June.
Italy was the third largest importer of stainless steel in sheets and coils from China. Total exports to Italy amounted to 22,824 tons. Chinese exports to Italy fell 24 percent in June this year, compared with the results in June 2013. Almost 8.5 percent of China's total stainless steel exports in June 2014 went to Italy.
