North American steel production fell 3.2 percent in June

Steel production across North American countries fell 3.2 percent mom in June 2014, according to the latest data released by the World Steel Association.

Total crude steel production in Canada in June this year was 1.010 million tons, down 2.88 percent from 1.040 million tons in May 2014. Steel production in El Salvador was 10,000 tonnes in June this year, up 11.1 percent from the previous month when steel production was 9,000 tonnes. Guatemala's steel production remained unchanged at 30,000 tonnes for the month. Steel production in Trinidad and Tobago fell 2.17 percent in June this year to 45 thousand tons, compared with 46 thousand tons during the month of May.

The total steel production in the first six months of 2014 in the countries of the North America region amounted to 6067 thousand tonnes in Canada, 140 thousand tonnes in Cuba, 53 thousand tonnes in El Salvador, 170 thousand tonnes in Guatemala, and 9503 thousand tonnes in Mexico. tons, in Trinidad and Tobago 276 thousand tons and in the USA 43 494 thousand tons.
