An unusual discovery was made in the northwest of the Xinjiang region of China. Geologists have found one of the largest gold mines ever discovered. The gold mine is located in the town of Ulugqat, which is located on the border with Kyrgyzstan. Geologists estimate that the mine has a gold reserve of about 127 tons, worth over 40 billion yuan.
At the same time, a spokesman from the Xinjiang Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, Cui Hongbin, said that the mine will be able to produce more than 200 tons of gold. This amazing discovery was made after 20 years of geological exploration in the region.
Cui told reporters that geologists have surveyed the twenty-kilometer area for the past 20 years. The discovered mine is located at an altitude of 3100 to 4300 meters above sea level. The study was conducted by Xinjiang Tongyuan Mining Limited, a joint venture between Hong Kong Mining and Geological Firm Fuwei and the Xinjiang Bureau of Minerals.
The company said it has not yet received approval to operate its largest gold mine. Hong Kong-based Fuwei holds a majority stake in Xinjiang Tongyuan Mining Limited. Chen Yuhi, head of Hong Kong Fuwei, is the owner of the largest gold mine. The Xinjiang region is considered to be the settlement of the Chinese Muslim Uyghur ethnic group. In addition, rich sources of oil, gas and other minerals have been discovered here.
