According to the latest statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the country's rebar production declined slightly in June 2014 from production in the same month a year earlier. However, compared to the previous month, production increased slightly.
According to JISF, Japan's small diameter rebar output during the month of June 2014 was 803,800 tons, down 1.9 percent from production in the same month last year. However, production in June 2014 was 1.7 percent higher than in the previous month. For the fourth month in a row, there has been a slight annualized decline in production.
The total production of small diameter rebar in Japan during the first half of 2014 was 4,602,300 tons. Production was down 2.7 percent from production during the corresponding six-month period last year. The average monthly output of the reinforcement is 767,000 tons. The current production assumes an annual output of 9.2 million tonnes throughout 2014, according to JISF.
In a quarterly comparison, there is also a decline in the production of fittings in the first and second quarters of the current financial year in relation to production in the same quarters of the previous financial year in the amount of about 3 percent.
