According to the latest data released by the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the country's exports of common steel products declined during June this year. The country's steel exports have been declining for the eighth consecutive month.
According to statistics, Japan exported 3.61 million tons of various steel products in June 2014. Exports were down 2.1 percent from exports in the previous month. The country's total steel product exports totaled 3.69 million tonnes in May 2014. Moreover, exports to the countries of the Asian region fell sharply during the month.
Exports to South Korea were down 10.8 percent in June 2014 compared with exports in the same month last year. Japanese exports to South Korea totaled 595,000 tonnes in June. Exports to Thailand are down 4 percent year on year. Japan exported to
Thailand in June this year 444 thousand tons of various steel products.
Steel exports to Taiwan also dropped significantly during the month of June this year. The export volume of steel products to Taiwan was 332,000 tons, down 12.7 percent from exports a year earlier. Steel exports from Japan to Taiwan totaled 380,298 tons in June last year.
