Novelis, largest aluminum producer in the US, raises prices

One of the leading manufacturers of rolled aluminum, Novelis Corporation, has announced an increase in prices for automotive sheets and aluminum products. The new prices will rise by 5 percent and will apply to all types of new orders. The company announced this on Monday. But still, for those orders that were signed before the innovation, the old price will remain.

All 5000 and 6000 series auto aluminum prices will be increased by $ 0.06 /lb. The prices for the 1000 and 3000 series will rise slightly less by $ 0.05. The price of 6061-series alloys will increase by $ 0.03 per pound. The increase in prices for automotive products is taken to supplement the pricing adjustments.

A company spokesman announced the launch of two new auto finishing lines in New York. Completion of the third line is also expected soon. According to experts' forecasts, this will increase the production and capacity of the company by 360 thousand tons per year.

The company also intends to commission finishing lines in Changzhou in China and Nachterstedt in Germany. This will help expand the global capacity to 900 thousand tons by the end of 2015.
