Steel production across the EU-28 fell 2.0 percent during the month of July over the same month of the previous year, according to the latest data released by the World Steel Association.
The largest output in July was achieved by the production of Germany. Germany produced 3.397 million tonnes during the month of July, slightly higher than the country's 3.397 million tonnes output during the month of July 2013. The growth was 1.5 percent.
Croatia had the lowest steel production at 15,000 tonnes in July this year. Croatia's total crude steel production fell 9.2 percent from 17,000 tonnes in July 2013. Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Spain increased their steel production compared to last month. On the other hand, steel production in most countries, including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom, experienced a drop in output during the month of July.
The total steel production during the first seven months of 2014 by different countries in the region (in thousands of tons) was: Austria (4581), Belgium (4170), Bulgaria (374), Croatia (123), Czech Republic (3133), Finland (2267) , France (9670), Germany (25 933), Greece (615), Hungary (536), Italy (15 099), Luxembourg (1347), Netherlands (4017), Poland (4874), Slovakia (2723), Slovenia ( 368), Spain (8472), Sweden (2667), Great Britain (7114) and other EU countries (2606).
