Metals of Africa, an Australian exploration company, has explored the Kroussou project in Gabon and has confirmed the presence of high quality non-ferrous metals with outcropping at the surface.
Examination of rock samples confirmed a high grade zinc mineralization of 35 percent and 23 percent for lead. The final sample results are expected in December, and the exploration program will begin drilling in 2015.
The managing director of the company said that the surface rocks of the area contain high grade zinc, which is very rare, as it is considered an exceptional opportunity to build zinc and lead mines on the surface. The company hopes the results, released in December, will be as exciting and promising as the current data.
Several mineralized outcrops have been found in one of the nearby valleys. Numerous unexplored resources, 80 kilometers long from north to south, will require a license for further exploration.
The Australian company Metals of Africa is also running projects in the Tete province of central Mozambique and is looking to develop a number of new and exciting projects in Africa. Next week, the company plans to begin a long-awaited drilling program at the Rio Mazoe project in Mozambique, which includes shallow penetrations into Broken Hill for exploration of lead-zinc-copper ores. In addition, two rigs will simultaneously be used for reverse circulation of the diamond program with drilling up to 5,000 meters.
