China opposes EU anti-dumping practices

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce recognizes the EU's decision on tariffs on seamless pipes as unfair and unjustified. The European Commission announced the introduction of new rules for calculating dumping, which will impose obligations on WTO members.

Following the European Union's imposition of anti-dumping duties on products from China such as seamless pipes, China's Ministry of Commerce said the EU should avoid abuse of trade regulation. The ministry expresses concern about the increasing protectionism in steel trade with the EU and hopes that the EU will closely adhere to the relevant provisions of the World Trade Organization.

In China's view, it is unreasonable and unfair to use the price method in a “similar” third market economy country to determine the level of discharge. This could seriously harm the interests of Chinese companies, whose production costs are not accounted for. Li Xinchuang, vice president of the China Iron & Steel Association, told the Global Times that the European Commission's actions were carried out blindly.
