The Ukrainian company Interpipe has delivered the first batch of railway wheels for the national railway operator of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Railways Organization. Three thousand wheels have already arrived at the port of Dammam.
The total supply of KLW wheels of the Saudi railway will reach 14 thousand units. Interpipe needs to produce and supply 3 standard sizes of wheels for freight cars and locomotives with diameters of 838 mm, 920 mm and 1046 mm. Shipments must be completed by the end of Spring 2017. The company won a tender in 2016 to supply railway products for the Saudi Railways Organization.
This is the first long-term contract to supply railroad wheels to the market in Saudi Arabia. This is a promising market for Interpipe as the Saudi Railways Organization is one of the largest rail operators in the Middle East.
