Top Chinese government officials and steel executives met in Beijing to discuss the challenges of reducing overcapacity in the iron and steel sector, according to a statement posted on the website of the Chinese government agency.
The government will continue to implement measures to reduce overcapacity, including countering zombie firms and banning low-grade steel production, the statement said.
Government agencies attending the commission meeting included the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the State Property Control and Administration Commission (SASAC), and banking and securities regulators.
