ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih completed the repair of a gas cleaning unit

In 2019, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih began repairs of environmental equipment with gas cleaning DP-6 of blast furnace No. 6. Its cost was 635 thousand hryvnia. About UAH 2 million was saved on contractors' services due to the performance of a significant part of the work by its own repair personnel. Some of the parts were manufactured by the Foundry and Mechanical Plant, a subsidiary repair company of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.

The gas cleaning plant (GOU) is an impressive structure over 25 meters high, a complex set of apparatus, pipelines, various equipment and metal structures, and shut-off control valves. The diameter of the air ducts ranges from 200 to 2700 meters.

The scale of the structure can also be judged by the volume of work performed. So, the scrubber irrigation nozzles, Venturi pipes, throttle group were replaced, an audit and partial replacement of the main shut-off valves and electrical networks of the gas cleaning complex were made. 45 new irrigation beams (pipes) were installed, all 24 shaking mechanisms of collecting and corona electrodes were revised, as well as half of the total number of electrodes of electric fields were checked and cleaned (the length of each electrode is 8 meters). In addition, work was carried out on gas cleaning equipment and systems at the casting yard and bunker room of blast furnace No. 6 during its shutdown.

Thus, the performance parameters of the GOU for cleaning exhaust gases from the DP-6 were restored, as a result of which the impact on the environment will decrease.

This year, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih will also perform a number of other major repairs to maintain the performance and reliability of environmental equipment, eliminating various risks:

gas cleaning of two-vaned steel-making unit No. 6;
draft equipment of the GOU converter No. 5;
gas cleaning from the ladle furnace and ferroalloy bunker in the continuous casting department of steel No. 1;
draft equipment of the GOU as part of the reconstruction of the limestone kiln No. 3;
replacement of the section of the water pipeline for supplying water from pumping station No. 9 to rolling shop No. 3;

Plus, it is planned to collect oil products in horizontal sedimentation tanks and a number of other environmental measures.
