Evraz is considering buying the French part

Evraz PLC is interested in purchasing part of British Steel. The FT said: "The Russian metallurgical mining group, of which Chelsea football club owner Roman Abramovich is the largest shareholder, is specifically considering British Steel's business in France, which supplies rails for railway lines."

British Steel went bankrupt last month due to forced insolvency. The UK government rejected its request for a second aid, putting 5,000 jobs at risk.
