Sanzheev Gupta renews interest in metallurgical plant in Port Talbot

Steel entrepreneur Sandjiev Gupta said he intends to acquire a metallurgical plant in Port Talbot if the business is put up for sale. In an interview with Moneycontrol, steel mogul Gupta, who is the executive chairman of the Liberty Steel Group, said he would consider an acquisition if Port Talbot is brought to market.

This is as Indian-owned Tata Steel UK is continuing discussions on an individual loan, believed to be in the region of £ 500m, with the UK Treasury to support its unprofitable operation in the UK, where 7,000 works in Wales and 4,000 at its main steel mill at Talbot Port.
