The capacity utilization rate stood at 72.3%, down 0.9% over the week and also down 6.2% year on year.
As of the week ended December 26, crude steel production in the United States this year was about 78.74 million short tons, down 17.7% from a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 67.7%, which is 12.1% less than a year earlier.
