The Italian news agency ANSA today reported that the Senate of Italy approved the bill on the support of the metallurgical plant of the city of Taranto Ilva, thus taking off the judicial restrictions on the production activities of the enterprise. 217 members of the Senate voted for the bill, 10 were against and another 18 senators abstained from voting.
From today, the ILVA metallurgical plant can continue to work as usual. The Italian government has given two years and state guarantees for 3 billion euros to bring metallurgical production in Taranto to European standards for emissions of harmful substances.
Thanks to the ILVA government act, it resumed the work of rolling capacities. In particular, at the plant, a hot rolling plant No. 1 was restarted at the plant, a finishing roller camp No. 2, the piping workshop No. 1 (line for the production of electric welding pipes, a coatings application, service center) and part of the capacity of the cold rolling workshop.
At the same time, after the thorough assessments of environmental impact the company began the implementation of the ecological plan approved by the Ministry of Italy. So, the decommissioning of coke batteries No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, which are subject to reconstruction, began. In turn, coke batteries provide the work of the domain furnace No. 1, which will also have to be modernized.
