The EU market remains the most important for Ukrainian metallurgy

Director of the Ukrpromvneshekspetiza SE Vladimir Vlasyuk said that the share of the EU countries in the export of Ukrainian metal products is more than 28%, while the share of the countries of the former Soviet Union is about 16% of which 70% of the supply of metal production to the Russian Federation.

"Sales in the European Union market are priority for Ukrainian metallurgy," he said, adding that it is necessary to diversify sales markets for other countries. According to Vladimir Vlasyuk, in 2012, the volume of export of metal rolling will amount to 22 million 600 thousand tons, while at least 29 million tons were exported in the pre -crisis period.

This year deliveries to the EU markets reached 4 million 700 thousand steel products against 6 million 600 thousand tons in 2011, and supplies to the countries of South East Asia will amount to 2 million 300 thousand tons compared with 3 million 200 thousand tons last year.

The forecast for 2013 for Ukrainian metallurgy, according to experts, is disappointing - “In 2013, in the best case, Ukrainian metallurgists will sell 8.6 million tons in the domestic market. Given the limitations of export markets, critical for the development of Ukrainian metallurgy is the development of domestic sales,” market analysts say.
