Representatives of the owner of the ILVA metallurgical plant, recently “saved” by the decision of the Italian Senate from under arrest, said that direct investments in the production capacity of the plant over the past 17 years amounted to more than 4.3 billion euros.
Thus, the Italian public hopes that the owners of the enterprise will not refuse this asset and bring it into line with European norms and environmental requirements.
Recall that the court of the city of Taranto, after repeated violations of the ILVA plant of environmental standards, made a decision on the suspension of the enterprise and the seizure of all its products manufactured since 2010. After the intervention of the now former Prime Minister Mario Monty, the plant was amnestied for two years to eliminate constructive shortcomings and modernize steel production.
