Sometimes, in order to increase the dielectric characteristics of the insulating material, manufacturers add additional synthetic films under the protective shell, as an additional separation layer. The ship's cable is characterized by indicators of resistance to the following types of impact:
- diesel fuel;
- solar radiation;
- ultraviolet radiation;
- acidic, alkaline reagents;
- vibration and shock loads;
- resistance to temperature extremes.
Also, the cable has good bendability, which allows its installation in hard-to-reach areas.
Each protective layer of the cable is color coded. This is especially important when laying complex communication schemes.
Scope of application
The main purpose of cables is to lay power and communication networks in places with an increased level of aggressiveness of the environment. The range of temperatures at which the cable can be used is quite large (-40 - + 45 ° C), but the cable can be laid only if the temperature is at least 15 ° C. At lower temperatures, the elasticity of the wiring decreases, which becomes an obstacle during the installation process.
Also, due to the flexibility of the cable, its scope includes both fixed communications and temporary ones. It is excellent for wiring high power sources.
