Filters are an integral part of the air preparation unit, preventing accelerated failure due to moisture in other parts.
Views and design
Filters-driers may differ in the way of connection on:
- Flanged;
- Threaded;
- Butt.
When installing the filter, it is important to place it strictly vertically (maximum deviation from the vertical is 5 °). Only the provided mounting hole must be used for this purpose. An example of a filter drier can be viewed by following the link .
Also, models may differ in the way they are cleaned:
- Centrifugal without mesh. 1 stage of cleaning (from moisture), since there is no mesh for solid particles;
- Centrifugal with filter mesh. The air is purified in 2 stages (from moisture and solid particles);
- Contact.
Another difference is the way of condensate drainage:
- Manual;
- Automatic.
How it works
After the air enters the filter, it first of all enters the chamber with a rotating blade. Due to the vortex movement, all excess moisture settles on the blades, after which it is collected in a special reservoir. Then the air passes through the filter mesh, which retains solid impurities (rust, dust, scale).
Important parameters
The following characteristics are important for proper functioning:
- Bandwidth. This indicator directly depends on the weight of the filter. The larger the option, the more air the filter is able to process in a minute;
- Connection size;
- The fineness of cleaning. It can vary from 5 to 25 microns and depends on the frequency and density of the filter mesh;
- Volumes and design of condensate collection tanks. If the glass is made of metal, then an external level or sight glass must be present. But, most often, the container is made of transparent plastic. You can also find a double version (plastic cup with a detachable metal casing). For the filter to function properly, the container must be positioned strictly vertically;
- Working parameters. This includes temperature and working pressure. In case of violation or failure of pressure parameters, the filter either works much worse, or completely fails. Remember, these parameters are different for all filters;
- Condensate drain type. If this process is automated, then you will be relieved of the need to constantly monitor the level. If the type of removal is manual, then this will have to be done regularly. Delayed moisture removal is essential
