Feedback on hydrogen welding

Отзыв о водородной сварке

I work as a gas welder for a private company. Oxygen-acetylene welding has been used for all the years of work. with its help, you can not only cook, but also solder, cut metal, glass, ceramics. With the next economic crisis, the enterprise began to reduce costs, but they could not figure out how to reduce the consumption of acetylene and oxygen during welding without compromising the quality of work. Somehow I came across information about modern hydrogen welding machines that do not require the purchase of gas, but they themselves produce hydrogen and oxygen from ordinary water. I made inquiries, asked real users on the forums and realized that hydrogen is real alternative to acetylene welding .

The chief was alarmed by the price of such equipment - $ 1,300, but an approximate calculation of the savings in comparison with the existing one convinced him to invest in this miracle of technology. I will say right away that it was not difficult to get the hang of working, although when you get used to the antediluvian units it can be problematic to rebuild to easily controlled and stuffed with various gadgets. So, our calculation of the payback of hydrogen welding was three months, because according to the seller, for a five-day working week with constant welding work, about 15 liters of distilled water and 75 kWh of electricity are needed, which in total is $ 6. At first, we didn't even believe in such scanty sums for consumables, because every week we spent $ 100-120 for the purchase and delivery of acetylene and oxygen. In the first week of work on hydrogen welding, doubts were dispelled. In addition to the economic side, the device has many other advantages, so the money was well spent.

I have been using hydrogen welding for half a year now and I can note that:

  1. The quality of the welds is even slightly better compared to acetylene welding. The ability to regulate the diameter of the flame allows the use of welding, probably even in jewelry, because the seams are very neat. •
  2. I tried to cut metal 10 mm thick - the cut came out smooth and even. I did not try to cut thicker than 10 mm, although the manufacturer claims that this is also possible. •
  3. I do not recommend saving on water quality. If you use non-distilled water, the machine will start to junk. Better to keep such expensive equipment safe. •
  4. Despite the fact that the device can work all day without interruption, it is still better to let it cool down periodically for 5-10 minutes. •
  5. It is a pleasure to travel to objects with such a device. He took it in his hand and drove off. No need to carry cylinders and worry about strong shaking on the way.

The savings on supplies are truly incredible! Due to this, our
