The future of aviation

Будущее авиации

Air travel has long been an established way of life for millions of people around the world, but innovation continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the sky. New engines, materials, equipment and equipment for ground handling of ships appear.

For example, in 2016, a solar-powered aircraft landed in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, making an epic and historic journey around the world. The plane flew 24,800 miles, using exclusively the energy of the sun. One of his pilots described the ride as "an incredible adventure".

While aviation provided long-distance travel, there was an urgent need to reduce emissions from flights. The European Commission has named aviation “one of the fastest growing sources of greenhouse gas emissions.”

In Germany, researchers at the University of Stuttgart were working on what they call a "high-performance" electric two-seater aircraft called the "E-Genius" with a maximum take-off weight of 900 kilograms. The aircraft can carry two pilots over a distance of just under 250 miles. The E-Genius behaved like a "regular aircraft" during flight and that its performance was also comparable to conventional aircraft.

The team is now focusing on developing a high-performance hybrid aircraft with an intelligent diesel engine. Could electric passenger aircraft become a reality in the foreseeable future? “I think it's possible,” said Peter Palensky of the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
