On January 12, 2013, the mayor of Mariupol, Yuri Yuryevich Khotlubay, marks 69 years. Yuri Khotlubei is one of the few Ukrainian mayors who served four deadlines in their post.

Yuri Khotlubey was born on January 12, 1944 in the village. Desired of the Yasinovatsky district of the Donetsk region in a large Greek family. The ancestors lived in the Greek village of Bogatyr Velikonovoselkovsky district of Donetsk region.
His grandfather, Anisim in the 1920s with his family, in which there were 6 children to master new territories to Yuzovka. Here he worked on the construction of the railway, and then a donkey at the Bolshevik state farm, where he worked as a senior groom.
By the denunciation of the sergeant of the NKVD, grandfather was arrested and shot in 1938. The following “crimes” were charged with him: firstly, the fact that the senior groom loaded the work of pregnant horses, as a result, they dumped the offspring, and this undermined the power of the state and was a wrecking; Secondly, the fact that he was a member of the Greek rebel army, which is headed by Pole Sokolovsky.
In these tragic conditions, the grandmother considered that if you leave the children with the Greeks, then the same sad fate awaits them. Therefore, in the documents of all children it is written that they are Ukrainians.
Despite the vicissitudes of the history of the family, Yuri Yuryevich feels himself Greek, honors his ancestors, shares and maintains a course on the development of Greek spiritual values in Mariupol - the center of Ukrainian Hellenism.
In 1960, he graduated from the Novogrodovskaya secondary school and in the same year entered the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute for the Faculty of Metallurgical, the specialty "Equipment of plants of ferrous and non -ferrous metallurgy."
He began his career in 1960 by a locksmith at the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant. After graduation from the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute from 1966 to 1969. He worked as a master, senior master, mechanic at the Pavlodar aluminum factory. From 1969 to 1971 He served in the Soviet Army commander of a platoon in Kushka, in Turkmenistan.
At the end of the service, he returned to the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant, where from 1971 to 1974. He worked as a master, senior master. Here in 1974 he was elected secretary of the workshop party organization.
From 1975 to 1984 He worked in party work in Donetsk: an instructor, head of the industrial department of the Donetsk city committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, the first secretary of the Leninsky district committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, Donetsk.
