The Executive Director of the world's largest metallurgical company Arcelormittal, speaking at a press conference in Poland, said that global demand for steel products in 2013 will grow by 2-3%, mainly due to the growth of consumption in the United States and developing countries.
European consumption will remain at the 2012 level, or add a maximum of 0.5%, said Lakshmi Mittal.
It is interesting that the World Steel Association (World Steel Association 1 ) in October 2012 gave the exact opposite forecast. According to WSA experts, global steel consumption will increase by 3.2% mainly due to the growth of consumption in the eurozone by 4.5%.
1 The WorldSteel Association was founded in 1967. WorldSteel represents about 170 steel manufacturers (including 17 of the 20 largest metallurgical companies in the world), national and regional associations of metallurgical industry and research institutes. The market share of the members of the WorldSteel Association is about 85% of the world -class steel production.
