Today, in our "Blitz" section, there is a festive issue, the hero of which is Alexander Shevelev, CEO of Severstal!
Alexander Anatolyevich joined the Cherepovets Steel Rolling Mill as a locksmith after the army in 1997, and after 1.5 years he became a shift foreman.
At that time, the company was holding a competition for participation in a project aimed at improving production. Alexander Anatolyevich immediately applied, passed the selection process and became one of four employees who were ready to take responsibility for studying the methodology of production improvement and making small but important changes in our company.
In 2013, he became the head of the Cherepovets Steel Rolling Plant – today Severstal-Metiz – and for three years worked as its general director.
For almost 20 years of work in the company, Alexander Anatolyevich has come a long way and today heads our company.
Remembering that time and his career path, Alexander Anatolyevich shares three tips that helped him move up the career ladder:
"The first advice is to be ready to take on something new, unusual for yourself. Because, on the one hand, where is the shift master, the auxiliary tool shop, and where is the production improvement program. At that time, it was interesting for me to try, I had a willingness to express myself and develop.
Participating in this program also helped me meet a lot of people and understand what the team is doing. Learning to work in a team, helping it, taking responsibility for its results, and being ready to accept feedback is the second recommendation.
The third tip is that you should be able to deliver results. The result is practical – indeed, to be able to implement some measures. If you are interacting with a client, external or internal, you must be able to give value to your client and bring benefits."
In 2023, Alexander Anatolyevich became the winner of the "TOP 1000 Russian Managers" award in the "Top Manager" nomination. The rating identifies the most professional managers, leaders in their industries and functional areas.
