American Nucor Corp., one of the largest steel companies in the United States, reduced net profit by 6.5% in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025, while revenue increased by 4.7%.
According to a company press release, net income for the quarter ended July 5 was $603 million, or $2.60 per share, compared with $645 million, or $2.68 per share, for the same period last year.
Revenue increased to $8.456 billion against $8.077 billion
. The FactSet analysts surveyed had forecast revenue of $8.54 billion on average
. Last quarter, Nucor increased shipments of steel products by 10% to 6.474 million tons. At the same time, the average selling price of metal products decreased by 3%.
In the third quarter, the company expects a decrease in net profit compared to the second quarter, according to the report.
