The Belgian manufacturer of the steel cord and the Bekaert wire announced its financial results for the first half of this year.
In the first half of the year, the company published consolidated revenue from € 1.95 billion, which is 5.2% less than in the previous year. The EBITDA indicator decreased by 10.1% compared to the same period last year to € 259 million, and the profitability of EBITDA decreased to 13.3% from 14.0% in the first half of 2024.
, according to the increase in trade stress, the uncertainty was aggravated by the uncertainty from which Bekaert collide, as well as its suppliers and customers. Since the results of the first quarter, tariffs for steel in the United States have grown from 25 to 50 percent, which makes the passage of these expenses through the supply chain and leads to delays in some orders more and more difficult.
After a period of stability in the second quarter, the uncertainty of tariffs and the weakening of economic prospects began to influence demand. Bekaert expects to reduce demand in many of its final markets in the second half of 2025.
Given these lower volumes in combination with higher tariffs and current exchange rates, the company predicts slightly lower sales in 2025 compared to 2024. Nevertheless, the cash flow remains strong thanks to the emphasis on the management of working capital and reduction in capital costs.
