Iron ore imports to Turkey decreased by 11.3 percent in the first half of 2025

According to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 1.11 million metric tons, which is 79.1 percent more than in May and 18.1 percent more year-on-year. Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $111.43 million, an increase of 71.3% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 4.8% year-on-year.

In the first half of the year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 4.81 million tons, down 11.3 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 29.7 percent to $506.22 million year-on-year.

During the specified period, Brazil was the largest source of iron ore imports to Turkey with 3.23 million tons, which is 21.5% more than in the previous year. Brazil is followed by Uzbekistan with 493,802 tons and Sweden with 330,712 tons.
