Coking coal imports to Turkey decreased by 25.5% in the first half of 2025

In June of this year, Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 375,480 metric tons, down 14.8 percent from May and 41.9 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $69.92 million, down 13.8% from the previous month and 59.7% year-on-year.

In the first half of this year, the import of coking coal to Turkey amounted to 2.32 million tons, which is 25.5% less, while the value of these imports decreased by 50.4% to $425.68 million year-on-year.

Coking coal imports to Turkey - the last 12 months

During the specified period, Australia was the largest source of coking coal imports to Turkey with 1.07 million tons, which is 31.7 percent less than in the previous year. It is followed by the United States with 959,138 tons, which is 21.7 percent less than in the same period of the previous year, and Russia with 289,378 tons, which is 39.7 percent more than in the same period last year.
