Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), a Russian steel producer, has announced the signing of a large-scale supply agreement with the Kyrgyz company Metallorg Service, one of the leading distributors of steel products in the country. As part of the deal, MMK will annually supply steel products worth 6 billion rubles ($74.79 million) to Kyrgyz enterprises.
Focus on rebar for construction boom
Metal Trade Service will serve as the largest metal trader for MMK in Kyrgyzstan, distributing products to enterprises throughout the republic. The main focus will be on rebar, a key material for housing and infrastructure projects.
According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, Kyrgyzstan recorded the highest growth in construction among the members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in January-May 2025, while activity increased 1.9 times compared to the same period in 2024.
Export growth to the CIS
Since 2022, PJSC MMK has been steadily expanding supplies of long and hot-rolled products to Kyrgyzstan. In 2024, MMK's shipments to the CIS countries exceeded 1.7 million tons, confirming the region as a strategic export destination.
