The American subsidiary Arcelormittal with a headquarters in Luxembourg ArcelorMittal Calvert announced a large project for modernization at its hot strip production plant (HSM) in Kalvert, Alabama. The company placed an order in the German SMS Group for the installation of an inductive heating system aimed at increasing the efficiency of the rental and the production of the most modern steel brands.
existing 2050 mm HSM, originally set by SMS Group in 2010, will undergo significant modernization to increase the productivity and satisfy the growing demand for advanced hot -cloth -ups Products.
Inductive heating system to increase efficiency
the new system will be installed in front of the input section of the finish camp, equipped with heat -insulating caps to optimize energy use. SMS Group organically integrates the inductive heating system into the HSM automation system, providing effective operation. This will allow Arcelormittal Calvert to produce advanced hot stripes with greater consistency and reduced operational narrow places.
to minimize interruptions, the installation will be performed in parallel with current operations where this is possible. According to the schedule, hot launching work is scheduled for the end of November 2026.
