Japan's crude steel production decreased by 2.5 percent in July 2025

In July of this year, Japan's crude steel production increased by 3.1 percent from the previous month and decreased by 2.5 percent from July 2024, totaling 6.92 million tons, according to data released by the Japan Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF).

Meanwhile, Japan's pig iron production totaled 5.06 million metric tons in the month, up 6.4 percent from the previous month and down 1.5 percent year-on-year.

In the first seven months of this year, the country's steel production totaled 47.46 million metric tons, down 4.7 percent, while pig iron production totaled 34.34 million metric tons, down 4.1 percent from the same period last year.
