American company Midrex Technologies, a subsidiary of the Japanese steel company Kobe Steel, published its global statistics on production and iron trade trade (DRI), showing that the world production of DRI has grown to 140.8 million tons in 2024, which is 3.8 percent more than 135.7 million. tons in 2023.
The growth was largely due to India, where the production based on rotating furnaces has grown by 13.9 percent or 5.6 million tons, while production based on gas mine furnaces slightly decreased by 0.4 percent or 300,000 tons.
