Baoshan Iron & Yunnan Steel (Baosteel), one of China's leading steel producers, has successfully completed gearbox upgrades at its 2,050 mm hot rolling mill in Shanghai supplied by SMS Group. The maintenance project, completed during the annual overhaul in 2025, enhances the operational reliability of Baosteel while avoiding additional production downtime.
As part of the broader maintenance campaign, Baosteel SMS Group provided full-cycle technical support, including initial consultations and detailed planning, on-site installation guidance, and advanced inspection methods, including analysis of hull deformation and wear.
These in-depth assessments provided valuable data for the long-term maintenance strategy of the Baosteel gearbox, ensuring both efficiency and long service life of the equipment.
